Men’s boxers turn up the heat to reach last 8 on Day Four of the AIBA Youth World Championships

It was the turn of the Men’s on Day 4 at the 2018 AIBA Youth Women’s & Men’s World Championships with 40 bouts across 6 weight categories (56kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg and 81kg) taking place in Hungary’s capital city Budapest. The two sessions of intense boxing action took over the Duna Arena and saw some standout performance from the next generation of boxing champions.

THREE ROUNDS FROM DAY FOUR

Round One: Kazakhstan’s powerhouse
Day four saw the rise of one of the most successful boxing nations. The Kazakh squad was able to celebrate six victories out of six matches in a memorable day for the Asian boxing powerhouse. Bantam (56kg) Biibars Zhexen, Light (60kg) Rakhat Seitzhan, Light Welter (64kg) Talgat Shaiken, Welter (69kg) Yermakhan Zhakpekov, Middle (75kg) Nurbek Oralbay and Light Heavy (81kg) Sagyndyk Togambay well-rounded performances showed why the Kazakh school is always a medal contender.

Round Two: Adrian Orban and Tibor Barbosu delighted the local fans
It was back in 2014 that the mighty Super Heavyweight Laszlo Komor won a bronze in Sofia, the last time that an Hungarian could celebrate winning a World Championship medal. On Day Four in Budapest, locals Adrian Orban and Tibor Barbosu proved that they are equally capable of a podium finish at the 2018 Youth World Championships. The two talented Hungarian boxers made the public roar with their two excellent wins against Ukraine’s Taras Bondarchuk and India’s Vijaydeep.

Round Three: Denmark’s Terteryan family business
The number two was dominant for the Denmark team on Day 4 at the Duna Arena. Two twin brothers. Two weight categories, Light (60kg) and Light welter (64kg). Two different bouts. And two impressive victories. Both Nikolai and Sebastian Terteryan defeated their skilled opponents from Brazil, Pedro Conceicao, and Australia, Daniel Roberts, to make it through the Top 8 of their respective weight category.
