May 12th, 2016 / IBA
The arena that will host the battle for Olympic boxing medals this August was officially unveiled in the Barra da Tijuca region of Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday (11 May). The newly built Pavilion 6 of the Riocentro exhibition and convention centre will have a Games-time capacity of 9,000.
With a floor space of 7,500 square metres, Pavilion 6 has a 15-metre high roof that is supported by external columns, meaning there are no internal pillars that could obstruct views.
