AIBA President delighted with preparations during visit to Olympic boxing venue ahead of the start of Rio 2016

The AIBA President Dr Ching-Kuo Wu made his latest visit to Riocentro Pavilion 6 at the weekend where, in the company of AIBA officials and Rio 2016 LOC representatives, he was shown around the state-of-the-art facilities that will be home to the Olympic Boxing competition from 6-21 August. AIBA President declared his admiration for the organisers in putting together a fittingly spectacular home for the 286 men and women who will be competing for 13 gold medals over the 15 days, and his anticipation for the start of the competition.

The venue is situated in the Barra da Tijuca district of Rio de Janeiro, moments from the Olympic Park and the Athlete’s Village. AIBA President Dr Wu expressed his confidence in the field of top boxers rising to the occasion to deliver a memorable competition worthy of the occasion, one that will thrill the thousands of fans set to fill the stadium each day of competition, and the millions tuning in around the globe to experience the most-watched sporting event in the world.
