September 8th, 2019 / IBA

AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships in Ekaterinburg, Russia was officially opened by AIBA Interim President Mohamed Moustahsane.

The opening ceremony was held in the EXPO Congress center, a lot of the honored guests were presented.

Moustahsane underlined the importance of being united in his greeting speech.

«We are here to conduct the major AIBA event for our men elite boxers. This tournament is the dream for a lot of athletes, and you all deserved to be here among best of the best and fight not only for gold but for our beloved sport and its future.

I want to say thank you to Russia which gathered us here to celebrate boxing, and which supports us with a great enthusiasm at these tough times.

The situation of AIBA hasn’t been the easiest one since months but being all united we can overcome it. World Championship is a great opportunity to show the whole world how strong and passionate about boxing we are.

Investments that all of us made into boxing should go back to National Federations to continue to develop our sport. The politics should not be at the centre of our Universe, but the athletes and coaches, yes!

The Olympics is a dream of all the athletes, but the World Championships is not less important in each boxer’s career. So, go toward your dream!» Moustahsane said.
