AIBA focus on R&J development continues with 2-Star Course held during Chemistry Cup in Germany

March 15th, 2017 / IBA

As part of AIBA’s policy to consolidate and expand its pool of Referees and Judges going into the new Tokyo 2020 Olympic Cycle, the latest 2-Star R&J Course has taken place in Halle, Germany, involving 16 R&Js from 14 European countries. Using the occasion of the city’s prestigious Chemistry Cup tournament, practical evaluation of the R&Js’ performances in top-level competition was undertaken as a key element of the examination for officials looking to move up from their current 1-Star status.

With the training and expansion of its global network of officials a priority for AIBA throughout the Tokyo 2020 Olympic cycle, the next 2-Star courses are scheduled to take place at the end of April in Kazakhstan and in Poland.
