Uzbek boxing stars Dusmatov and Jalolov to be featured in Tashkent at IBA Champions’ Night

Crowned by the main title fight between Hasanboy Dusmatov and Samuel Carmona, IBA Champions’ Night comes to Tashkent on 14 April 2024 to feature prominent Uzbek boxers against strong rivals from around the globe.

World and Olympic Champion from Uzbekistan, Dusmatov also has a professional record, being undefeated with six victories; he has already performed well at IBA Champions’ Night previously, claiming a victory against Martin Molina Salvador from Spain last year in Phuket. His opponent in the title fight, 27-year-old Carmona also from Spain, has a professional record of 10 victories and one loss on his record. A 10-round bout will be the main event of the night.

A thrilling fight is scheduled at super heavyweight between Uzbek star, World and Olympic champion Bakhodir Jalolov and Agron Smakici from Croatia, a professional boxer with a 20-2 record. Jalolov has already competed at the inaugural IBA Champions’ Night in Abu Dhabi in 2022, where he was victorious against Danis Latypov from Bahrain. The eight-round clash of two tall boxers promises to be one of the most exciting co-main events.

In another +92kg bout, Michael Hunter from the USA challenges Russian Artem Suslenkov in a 10-round ranking fight. 35-year-old Hunter has an impressive 22-1-2 record and was a contender for a WBO title in 2017, however, lost to Oleksandr Usyk. Suslenkov will be another opponent from Russia for the American, who scored victories against Alexander Ustinov and Sergey Kuzmin, while had a draw with Alexander Povetkin back in 2019. Undefeated Artem Suslenkov has 10 professional fights and experience in amateur boxing when he won the World Military Games.

Reigning IBA World Champion from Uzbekistan, Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev is to meet Fatih Keles from Türkiye in an eight-round ranking fight at 67kg. 22-year-old Muydinkhujaev has already debuted at IBA Champions’ Night in Thailand where he celebrated a victory over Dulat Bekbauov from Kazakhstan. Keles has participated in the event twice but has not managed a win so far.

Mujibillo Tursunov from Uzbekistan has already had his debut in professional boxing and scored four victories so far. This time he will be challenged by Juma Choki Ramadhani in the 63.5kg division, who is a southpaw from Tanzania with 8-0-1 record. 

In a 60kg, six-round ranking fight, IBA World Championships 2015 bronze medallist Elnur Abduraimov from Uzbekistan faces off against Carlos Ornelas (28-4) from Mexico.

IBA World Championships 2017 silver medallist Ikboljon Kholdorov will be challenged by Sagadat Rakhmankul (8-5) from Kazakhstan at 71kg.

Bronze medallist at the IBA World Championships, Uzbek boxer Alokhon Abdullaev (1-0-1) goes into the ring against Jargal Otgonjargal from Mongolia (1-0) in the 75kg division.
