IBA shares its perspective on sports leadership within the UNITAR Executive Diploma in Sports Diplomacy

The International Boxing Association (IBA) is pleased to reinforce its collaboration with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) through participating in the roundtable discussion “Leadership Skills in International Sports Fields” held on January 26, 2026, at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
This discussion took place as part of the Executive Diploma in Sports Diplomacy organized by UNITAR in the United Nations Headquarters. Designed for a diverse international audience, the programme explores the intersection of sports and diplomacy, with a particular emphasis on leadership, mega-event legacy, and the role of international sports organizations in the global arena.
IBA was represented by Chris Roberts OBE, IBA Secretary General/CEO, and Anna Utkina, IBA Development Director. They shared the organizations’ perspective on the most valuable leadership skills required when working across international sporting events, providing practical examples from their professional experience.
As an experienced leader in global sport governance, Chris Roberts OBE, IBA Secretary General and CEO, highlighted the importance of building effective communication with stakeholders at all levels and shed light on IBA´s current strategic priorities and aspirations. Anna Utkina, IBA Development Director, emphasized the significance of cultural awareness and sensitivity when operating in diverse sports environments.
IBA is grateful to UNITAR colleagues for this opportunity and looks forward to strengthening cooperation between the two organizations under the existing Memorandum of Understanding through joint initiatives in which both can share their expertise.
