November 17th, 2025 / IBA
The International Boxing Association (IBA) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Mr. Eric Ndayishimiye, President of the Burundi Boxing Federation and a respected figure within the global boxing community.
Eric’s untimely departure has come as a profound shock to all who knew him. The news is especially heartbreaking as he was expected to join us in Dubai this December for the upcoming Festival of Boxing. While he will no longer be physically present, his influence, vision, and spirit will undoubtedly be felt throughout the event and far beyond.
A true servant of the sport, Eric was admired for his unwavering dedication and tireless efforts to strengthen boxing in Burundi and across Africa. He stood as a pillar of unity, a leader who worked selflessly to uplift athletes, modernise his Federation, and champion the growth of boxing on the continent. His contributions to both the African Boxing Confederation (AFBC) and the International Boxing Association (IBA) have left a lasting impact that will continue to shape the sport for years to come.
On behalf of IBA President Umar Kremlev, the entire IBA Family, and all colleagues who had the honour of working alongside Eric, we extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones, his colleagues, and the boxing community in Burundi. His legacy of leadership, passion, and commitment will forever be remembered.
Rest well, Eric. You will be deeply missed.
