A delegation from the International Boxing Association (IBA) attended the SportelAsia event in Bali, Indonesia on 23-24 February to discuss the upcoming plans for the Year of Asia and the IBA event portfolio for 2023.

SportelAsia is a well-known event in the sports business industry that attracts key stakeholders from around the world for more than 30 years. Being back after a 4-year absence, the event was organised in Bali and provided the perfect opportunity for IBA to connect with key right holders and broadcasters, and to meet with the leading companies involved in sports business in the Asian territories.

The IBA announced 2023 as a Year of Asia, and this initiative, among others, was presented to the sports business world. The IBA is committed to promoting the growth and development of the sport of boxing across the world on all continents, with the Asian continent chosen to celebrate their tangible results and give further impetus to the continent’s impressive progress.

Asia will host this year’s IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi, India and the IBA Men’s World Boxing Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. These events will bring together the best boxers from around the globe and provide an exciting showcase of their outstanding talent and the diversity of the sport. The IBA representatives shared the organization’s vision for the Year of Asia and discussed the various initiatives that would be launched in 2023.

SportelAsia provided the IBA with an additional platform to promote the sport of boxing in the region at the full scale and gave an opportunity for connecting with key stakeholders in the industry. The IBA is optimistic about the future of boxing in the region and look forward to promoting the sport further in the coming years.

‘Attending SportelAsia was a fantastic opportunity for the International Boxing Association to showcase our commitment to promoting boxing in the region. As we gear up for the Year of Asia at IBA in 2023, we are excited to launch new initiatives and secure new cooperations. We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with key stakeholders in the sports business industry and look forward to developing boxing further in Asia.’ George Yerolimpos, IBA Secretary General and CEO, said.
