IBA Conducts Successful On-Site Visit Ahead of Asia U23 & Youth Open Boxing Championships 2026 in Jakarta, Indonesia

Lausanne, Switzerland – 3 March 2026: The International Boxing Association (IBA) has completed a comprehensive on-site inspection in Jakarta as preparations accelerate for the IBA Asia U23 & Youth Open Boxing Championships 2026 to take place from 5th April to 20th April, 2026, reaffirming strong confidence in the Indonesian capital’s readiness to host one of Asia’s most important youth boxing events.

Held on 26th – 27th February 2026, the visit brought together the IBA Sports Director Alexandr Egorov along with Chairman Of Local Organizing Committee Ivanhoe Semen and Competition Manager Shelly Selowati H.Soejono to evaluate operational progress, competition infrastructure, athlete services, and overall event delivery planning. The inspection marked a significant milestone in the build-up to the championships, which aim to showcase Asia’s next generation of boxing talent on an international stage.

Building Momentum Through Collaboration

The IBA delegation, is working closely with LOC representatives to review competition planning and finalize key operational frameworks. Meetings with LOC Chair Ivanhoe Semen highlighted a shared commitment to delivering a professionally organized and athlete-focused championships.

Throughout the visit, organizers demonstrated strong coordination and clear strategic planning under the esteemed leadership of the President Of Indonesian Boxing Federation (Pertina) Dr. Hillary Brigitta Lasut,Sh.Ll.M, reinforcing confidence in Jakarta’s capability to host a high-level international boxing event.

Athlete-Centred Infrastructure and Compact Operations

A central focus of the inspection was ensuring optimal conditions for athletes and officials. Three four-star hotels in BSD City were reviewed and confirmed as suitable accommodation hubs, offering integrated operational spaces for accreditation, technical meetings, weigh-ins, and team services — all located within close proximity to one another to enhance efficiency.

The Indoor Stadium Sport Centre Tangerang, selected as the competition venue, provides dedicated operational zones including athlete changing rooms, lounges for officials and judges, and VIP areas..

Seamless Event Logistics

Transport planning forms a key pillar of the championships’ operational model. The LOC confirmed comprehensive shuttle services connecting hotels and competition venues, alongside a dedicated welcome desk at Jakarta International Airport to support arriving delegations.

This streamlined approach reflects IBA’s broader commitment to athlete comfort, operational efficiency, and smooth international event delivery.
