March 6th, 2024 / IBA Champions Night

A decorated boxer from Uzbekistan, Hasanboy Dusmatov is to fight for the IBA Pro World Champion title in flyweight on home soil, as Tashkent will host IBA Champions’ Night on 14 April 2024. The main event will feature Dusmatov facing Samuel Carmona from Spain.

World and Olympic Champion, Dusmatov also has a professional record, being undefeated with 6 victories; he has already performed well at IBA Champions’ Night format last year where he claimed a victory against Martin Molina Salvador from Spain. His rival in a title fight, 27-year-old Carmona is a professional boxer with 10 victories and 1 loss on his record.

With more rival pairs being finalized within the Team Uzbekistan vs Team World spectacle, the event in Tashkent, host city of the IBA Men’s World Boxing Championships 2023, promises to be an exceptional one with more IBA World Champion Uzbek boxers to be featured.

IBA Secretary General and CEO Chris Roberts OBE said, ‘We are thrilled to return to Tashkent for the IBA Champions’ Night, where the finest talents of the boxing world, including Uzbekistan’s own Hasanboy Dusmatov, will showcase the spirit and excellence of IBA pro boxing. Their dedication and prowess represent the very best of our sport, and we look forward to witnessing an exhilarating display of competition and talent. This event underscores once again our commitment to providing a platform for athletes to excel on the world stage.’

‘We are grateful for the opportunities given to the sport of boxing by the President of our country. With his unwavering support, we see that boxing is thriving. We see sports development in Uzbekistan, and I expect full tribunes at the IBA Champions’ Night in Tashkent to witness the power and pride of Uzbek boxing,’ he said.

Secretary General of the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation Mirshohid Tillaboev added, ‘The IBA Champions’ Night in Tashkent is a testament to the global stature of Uzbek boxing and our athletes’ outstanding skills. Hosting such event under the strong foundation supported by IBA, underscores our nation’s passion for the sport and our role as a cradle for boxing champions. With Hasanboy Dusmatov leading the charge, we are set to deliver an unforgettable spectacle of skill, courage, and sportsmanship, showcasing to the world the rich boxing heritage of Uzbekistan.’
