Gassiev weighs in almost 12.5kg lighter than Kadiru ahead of IBA PRO 19 in Moscow

The official weigh-in ceremony for IBA PRO 19 took place in Moscow on 10 July, one day before a major fight night at VTB Arena.
The ceremony was also attended by three major names from the world of boxing: eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, former WBO heavyweight world champion Shannon Briggs and British heavyweight Dereck Chisora. Their presence added further international attention to the final pre-fight formalities in Moscow.
All boxers successfully completed the official weigh-in and came face-to-face in the final staredowns before fight night, with the ceremony adding further anticipation ahead of one of the strongest IBA PRO cards of the year.
WBA heavyweight world champion Murat Gassiev (RUS) weighed in at 104.205kg ahead of his title defence against Peter Kadiru (GER), who came in at 116.7kg. The German challenger will enter the ring with a weight advantage of almost 12.5kg.
Gassiev and Kadiru closed the ceremony with their final face-off before Saturday’s main event. Gassiev will make the first defence of the WBA heavyweight title he captured at IBA PRO 13 in December, when he stopped Kubrat Pulev (BUL) in the sixth round.
Kadiru stepped in after Tony Yoka (FRA) was forced to withdraw from the scheduled bout due to a back injury. The Hamburg-born heavyweight enters the contest with 23 wins, one defeat and 13 victories by knockout, while Gassiev brings a professional record of 33 wins, two defeats and 26 knockouts.
Another key moment came when Artem Suslenkov (RUS) and Joe Joyce (GBR) faced off ahead of their 12-round heavyweight co-main event for the WBA Continental title. Joyce, the Rio 2016 Olympic silver medallist, will meet the unbeaten Russian contender in one of the most anticipated bouts on the card.
IBA PRO 19 will also feature Pavel Sosulin (RUS) against Eddie Colmenares (VEN) in a 10-round super welterweight bout for the IBA.PRO International title, Muslim Gadzhimagomedov (RUS) against Kevin Martinez (MEX) in a 12-round heavyweight bout, and Murad Khalidov (RUS) against Arslan Yallyev (RUS) in a 10-round heavyweight contest.
Sharabutdin Ataev (RUS) will meet Jose Uzcategui (VEN) in a 12-round light heavyweight WBA eliminator, while Aleksei Egorov (RUS) will face David Dzukaev (RUS) in a 10-round cruiserweight bout.
Vadim Musaev (RUS) will take on Farahat Manirola (UGA) in a 10-round welterweight contest, Tamerlan Ozdoev (RUS) will meet Shivam (IND) in a 10-round lightweight bout for the WBA Asia East title, and Vyacheslav Rogozin (RUS) will face RV Deniega (PHI) in a six-round bantamweight bout.
The card will also include IBA Bare Knuckle action, adding another format to the evening’s programme at VTB Arena.
IBA PRO 19 will take place on 11 July at VTB Arena in Moscow, bringing together world title action, leading contenders, rising names and bare-knuckle bouts on one fight card.
