Defending Olympic champion Arlen Lopez learned his first rival at AIBA World Boxing Championships

AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships has started with bright fights in the middleweight category (75 kg) on Monday.

Algerian Younes Nemouchi unanimosly won Slovenian Aljaz Venko and proceed to the next preliminary round. On September 14 he faces the first seed Olympic and World champion Arlen Lopez from Cuba. 

Michael Nevin from Ireland confidently goes to the next round of 1/16. His next opponent is Vytautas Balsys from Lithuania.

Russian #8 seeded Gleb Bakshi rival of 1/16 is Amin Kushkhov from Azerbaijan who defeated Turkmenian Nursahat Pazziyev 4:1.

First RSC of the Championships goes to Andrej Mersljakov from Germany. He won in the second round Mohammed Abdulla from Qatar. Next round on September 14 he meets #5 seeded Hebert Da Conceicao from Brazil.

Uzbekistanian Fanat Kakhramonov defeated Mongolian Davaanyam Davaasuren and faces Adrian Cammarano from Australia next fight.

Sandro Poletan from Serbia had split decision won 3:2 against Miguel Cuadrado from Spain. In the round of 1/16 he faces Italian Salvatore Cavallaro who is #4 seeded.

First rival of Kazakh Tursunbay Kulakhmet is Milos Bart who won in the first preliminary round against Israel.

Number 6 seeded Andrej Csemez has his first fight with Serhat Guler from Turkey, #7 Indian Ashish Kumar meets Chinese Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan who unanimously defeated Sean Lazzerini from Scotland.

First rival of the second seeded Tarik Allali from Morocco is Eumir Marcial form Philippines.
