British Olympic gold medallist Nicola Adams and reigning World Champion Marlen Esparza took advantage of a break in the Astana action to speak directly to AIBA’s social media followers on Friday afternoon. The pair put on a show for Snapchat (aibaboxing) followers as the ten AIBA Ambassadors chatted to the world’s media, soaked up the Barys Arena atmosphere and sparred with the tournament mascot Maya.

Alongside Adams and Esparza, Brazil’s Olympic hope Adriana Araujo, India’s five-time World Champion MC Mary Kom, French Estelle Moselly, Bulgarian Stanimira Petrova and Morocco’s Khadija Mardi were chosen to represent the spirit and strength of the ninth edition of the prestigious tournament. Algeria’s five-star official Kheira Siki Yakoub, three-star officials Jennifer Huggins of Canadia and Kazakh Natalya Tsoy are the R&J ambassadors of the programme.
