AIBA WOMEN’S YOUTH & JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS ANTALYA 2011
This event will be the first of its kind and takes place ahead of next year’s London 2012 Olympic Games where we will see women’s boxing included in the program. Since this decision was taken, a considerable rise in the popularity of women’s boxing has been seen and this event will allow us to prove that such popularity extends from the grassroots level up to the very pinnacle of the sport.
The beautiful coastal town of Antalya will provide a great setting for showing off the skills of our young athletes to the world. The 1st edition of the AIBA Women’s Junior/Youth World Boxing Championships will be held from April 21 – May 1, 2011.
ROAD TO ANTALYA TRAINING CAMP
AIBA launched the Road to Dream programs in 2009. These programs give the opportunity to boxers and coaches from developing AIBA National Member Federations to participate in training camps and AIBA major competitions.
Boxers and coaches, invited by AIBA, can develop their skills and knowledge of boxing. For the inaugural AIBA Women’s Junior & Youth World Championships, the “Road to Antalya” training camp is being held from April 11 to 21.
The participants are 23 women boxers, born between 1993 and 1996, and 7 coaches from 13 countries. The program is led by Mrs. Christy Lynn Halbert from USA as Head Coach, Mr. In Ho Cheon from the Republic of Korea as Assistant Coach and two Turkish coaches: Mr. Yasar Giritli and Ahmet Cinar.
