IBA members who enrolled in the ISDE Sports Management Course have successfully completed their studies, culminating in the advanced Tier 3 element delivered in a hybrid format at the ISDE campus, and celebrated with a graduation ceremony held in Madrid, Spain at the Fernán Gómez Cultural Centre.

The graduation was attended by IBA Secretary General/CEO, Chris Roberts OBE, who presided over the ceremony and awarded diplomas to graduates, including IBA alumni and students completing other ISDE programs such as International Sports Law, International Relations and Diplomacy, and Foreign Trade. The event was also attended by IBA Development Director, Anna Utkina, who delivered a module on Crisis Management within Tier 3 alongside Dev Parmar Kumar, academic co-director of the sports programs at ISDE.

‘Completing the ISDE Sports Management Course is a remarkable achievement for our members. Their dedication and professional growth set a new standard of excellence in the field of sports management, and I am confident they will make a meaningful impact not only in boxing, but also beyond to pursue their aspirations and career goals. For IBA, it is vital to keep providing continuous professional development opportunities for our people, and we remain firmly committed to such initiatives including the upcoming Sports Governance Course, scheduled to begin in September,” said Chris Roberts OBE, IBA Secretary General & CEO.

The course, launched through the collaboration between the International Boxing Association (IBA) and Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economia (ISDE), was designed to empower IBA members with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in the sports management arena. This is IBA’s duty to provide stakeholders, especially athletes, with opportunities for professional development and growth within our sport and beyond.

The educational programme covered key topics such as management in a globalised world; managing International and National Federations and sports clubs; sporting integrity; crisis and risk management; sports PR and marketing; legal aspects; HR management; safeguarding; AI’s impact on sports; and the current state of combat sports, especially boxing.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants received the prestigious IBA and ISDE certificate, along with lifetime alumni benefits, including discounts on future ISDE training programmes.

We now look forward to the IBA Sports Governance course that is due to take place in September 2025. The recruitment process will conclude at the end of August 2025.
