AIBA President carries the Olympic Torch

The President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) and International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board Member, Dr Ching-Kuo Wu was one of the last people to carry the Olympic Torch on its way to the Fisht Olympic Stadium for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.
On February 6, 2014 at 2.36pm, Dr Wu ran for 300 meters between Neserbskaya Str. and Kooperativnaya Str.

Other torchbearers were the Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, the President of the IOC Thomas Bach, the Russian cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev, the Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu and Sochi 2014 President and CEO Dmitry Chernyshenko.

The torch relay was completed in 123 days, covering a distance of 56’000 kms through Lake Baikal, Europe’s highest peak in the Caucasus the Mount Elbrus (5642 m), the North Pole and even the International Space Station for an historic first ever spacewalk for the Olympic flame.

The Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games, officially the XXII Olympic Winter Games, will be held for February 7 through February 23, 2014.
